Tucson Festival of Books 2015 recap.

I went, I saw, I conquered.

Well, not quite, but close. I planned things very carefully. I went over the schedule and chose the sessions I wanted to attend. Nearly all had to do with improving my writing.. but I will admit I went to the first one, with Catherine Coulter, simply because I’ve read her since I was a teen and loved her… Not that the topic wasn’t relevant to what I write, it was Thriller and Suspense Heroes. And while I may not (so far) have much thriller or suspense, I do have what I consider heroes.

I learned about writing better, marketing, writing faster and many other things that I’m going to have to share with the people I know.

Did you go? Do you have something similar in your area?

Next Title Announcement…

Are you ready? Do you want to know about my next release?

Well, here’s some details:

Release Date is July 21, 2015.

I plan on doing a cover reveal on April 6, 2015

It’s a contemporary romance. No paranormal, no fantasy involved.

And the title is….

Drum roll please….

Choosing Happiness

I’d dance naked

around the house but my teenagers have people over and it would embarrass them.

Why am I so happy? Because I sent book 8 off to my editor this afternoon! I also sent all the info to my cover designer too… know what that means? I have a title! How long should I wait before I share that with you?

My week in review…

What have I done? Not a whole lot… I am working on the last revision before I send the next book to my editor… I still need to finalize my title and have a cover made….

Also, I’ve discovered some slightly damaged books in my inventory so I’m giving them away…. Stop on over to my Facebook page and leave a comment HERE to enter. I’m leaving it open all weekend so you’ve got some time.

I’m having a hard time believing it’s the end of February already, but here it is… What have you been up to?

First monthly Yuma Author Social meal.

We had ours tonight. While the turnout wasn’t as high as I hoped, I had a really great time. We ate and visited and talked shop without any real agenda. I am much looking forward to lunch next month and dinner again the month after. I’m hoping for a better turn out as we continue.

Who wants a free book?

Happy Valentines Day! To celebrate, I’m giving away a total of 4 (four) copies of Jade’s Peace (yes, signed) Two will be given away here, and two more will be given away on Good Reads… So join on both and have twice the chance to win!

The giveaway is open to the US, Canada, GB and AU. Contest on Goodreads ends at midnight on the 14th, so I’ll do the same here.

What do you have to do to enter? It’s simple… leave a comment. Tell me what you’re reading, who your favorite author is or what you’re doing for Valentines Day! (One will do, but I’d love to hear all 3!)

Enjoy!

Book number 8

it’s off to my beta readers…. They are some really good friends. good enough to be honest about what’s missing and what sucks. They’ll also help me name it… I don’t have one yet. Usually the name comes to me somewhere about half way through, but this time I’ve got nothing. When I know what I’m gonna name it, and figure out a release date, I’ll let you all know.

The Devil’s in the Details…

All of them. I’m sure you know I’ve been working on revisions (I’ve certainly not made any secret of it.) In revisions or rewriting you play with a lot of details, make sure some of them are consistent and others vary. It takes time and sometimes it can be tedious, but it always pays off in the end. Personally I go over every manuscript at least five times, sometimes more, before I let anyone else read it.

Am I the only one this obsessive?

While it Seems Slow

I know my hard work on this manuscript will pay off. I need to go over it several times fine tuning and tweaking before it’s done. I know this.. it just seems to take forever.

I’m still trying to come up with a title. And a blurb would be nice too. All of this has to be done around the kids and the old man’s schedule. I’m not complaining but it’s a fact.

I did get something done today.. I made up a couple of teasers for previous books… Tell me what you think..

And the Ants go Marching One by One

Hurrah, Hurrah. Nothing really thrilling here, other than working hard at my second revision. It’s going well. I’ve finished about 80 pages in three days, not a bad showing. I’m totally exhausted so I’m going to crash soon. I was up way too late last night working. That didn’t keep me from having to get up and take kids to school. I tried to nap twice today, neither worked out. It’s probably going to take about 2.7 seconds for me to fall asleep tonight.

How are things over your way?
