Camp Nano, days 8 and 9
Posted: June 9, 2012 Filed under: Hunt | Tags: camp, driving, Kitsune, Nanowrimo, traveling., trip Leave a commentNo words at all yesterday, though I did end up making a few hundred on day 7, and by midnight last night I was officially behind.
I used seven hours of driving to do lots of plotting, but with less than two hours sleep since seven am on Friday I just don’t have the energy to try to make words tonight.
I’ll get the new ideas down and make some progress toward catching up when I’ve had a little sleep.. and I’ll let you know if I end up dreaming the book. I’ve done that more than once before.
Camp Nano, Day 7.
Posted: June 7, 2012 Filed under: Hunt | Tags: camp, life, Nanowrimo, writing Leave a commentLife has really gotten in the way today. With several things planned in the coming days I’ve been forced to set my writing aside and face what has to be done. So far today I’ve not gotten a single word in. However, because of my personal goals, I’m not only not behind, I’m still a little bit a head. If I have another fail to write anything day tomorrow, I’ll be behind. But not by much.
I’m still holding out hope to get some writing in tonight… But I’m not holding my breath.
Camp NaNo, Day 6

Why on earth did I ask to come here? All they ever do is write. Everywhere I turn people are talking about word counts and plot bunnies, I can’t escape.
Yesterday I tried to drown myself in the lake, just to get away from it, and a counselor grabbed me by the hair, and pulled me out. “You’ll never make your word count that way.” She chided before leaving me laying on the shore of the lake as she rushed off to work on her own novel.
Instead of crafts, sports and games we have word wars and plotting sessions. Tell me why did I think this would be fun?
Next year, if I ask to come back, please, lock me in my room until the urge passes.
Your Daughter,
Melissa
Okay, so not really, I’m actually really enjoying Camp Nano and I’m looking forward to doing it again. Possibly in August, and definitely in November.
As for how things are going? Great. I had no trouble reaching (and surpassing) my personal goal of 2k words today. I still know where I’m going and what comes next so tomorrow should go well too.
Camp Nano, Days 4 and 5
Posted: June 5, 2012 Filed under: Hunt | Tags: camp, Kitsune, Nanowrimo, writing Leave a commentYesterday just got away from me. I had lots of household chores I needed to get done, and I ended up not managing to get my word count in (though I did get enough in to not actually be ‘behind’)
This morning I got right back to it and made some great progress, I hit my daily goal and set out to see if I could make up for what I failed to make yesterday.
It took me 3500 words to do it, but I’m back up to where I want to be for today (While NaNo sets the goal of 1667 words per day, my personal goal is a minimum of 2k words a day.) I finished with not much time to spare (under an hour left in the day!) but my daily average word count is 2006! I did it.
Now I can relax for a bit, maybe read a little, maybe brood on what I need to get written tomorrow.
Camp NaNo Day 3
Posted: June 3, 2012 Filed under: Hunt | Tags: camp, Day 3, Nanowrimo Leave a commentThings went much smoother today, I knew where I was going and what needed to be done and I managed to get 2100 words in just over three hours. Could I continue today? Yeah, things are moving great, I could keep going with little difficulty. Will I continue today? I’m not sure yet. I have several other things I need to do, including finishing the guest blogging article I started yesterday. If I get it all done and still have time, I’ll go back to writing, if not, I know where I’m going when I start tomorrow.
Camp NaNo Day 2.
Posted: June 2, 2012 Filed under: Hunt | Tags: camp, Nanowrimo Leave a commentIt wasn’t an easy day. I struggled my way through a tough and emotional scene, but in the end I conquered it. I even managed to clear over two thousand words today. YAY!!
And let’s not forget, I also managed about half of an article for a guest appearance on a book blog next week. A big accomplishment for the day.
I’m ready to kick back and read something for fun, let my brain rest…
Camp NaNo, Day 1
Posted: June 1, 2012 Filed under: Hunt | Tags: book 3, Kitsune, Nanowrimo. Camp Leave a commentWell, I managed it, barely. I really wanted to hit 2k words today but I barely made 1700… it was a struggle. There were several contributing factors, the heat (117 today!!,) kids going in and out, kids bickering, moodiness, indecision on where I want the story to start.
I really need to slap some duck tape over my internal editor’s mouth and just get writing. I’ve made some major decisions today and have a few more ahead of me but I’ve at least identified them in my struggles today. I have great hopes for better progress tomorrow.
