9781455599158_p0_v6_s260x420When old friends become new lovers…anything can happen.
Sexy, gifted, and loyal, PI Jacob Decker is a tall, cool drink of perfection who had Emmanuelle Holmes at “hello.” His relationship with Emme’s best friend kept them apart for years, but things have changed. Now that a case has brought him to Gnaw Bone, Colorado, the road is wide open for Emme and Deck to explore something hotter and deeper than Emme dreamed possible. So why is she sabotaging the best thing that’s ever happened to her?
It isn’t easy to catch Deck off guard, but Emme does just that when she walks back into his life after nine long years. The curvy brunette had her charms back in the day, but now she’s a bona fide knockout . . . and she wants to rekindle their friendship. Deck, however, wants more. Emme’s always been the one; she excites Deck’s body and mind like no other woman can. But a dark chapter from Emme’s past overshadows their future together. Now only Deck can help her turn the page-if she’ll let him . . .

What did I think:

I’ve waited for this book for a long time. It was good, not what I expected but really good. I enjoyed it.

What I’m Reading ~ Edge of Courage ~ Elaine Levine

This is the first book in the Red Team series.

After more than seven years on an undercover assignment in Afghanistan, Rocco is out of the military now, but he’s haunted by things he can barely remember. He doesn’t sleep because the nightmares will come, but they don’t always stay away when he’s awake either. When his friend and buddy, Kit, asks him to back to their hometown, Wolf Creek Bend, Colorado, to check into some trouble his sister is having, he doesn’t want to go, but he owes his buddy.

Mandy wasn’t thrilled that her brother sent someone to check up on her, but she soon realized that he needed to be there as much as she needed the help. She knows that with patience and persistence, she can help him to deal with the past that haunts him, but will he let her? When her brother’s troubles make her a part of them, she’s more thankful to have him there to help her, but is that all there is to it?

What did I think? I loved it. It showed more of the darker side of what some of our returning soldiers are dealing with and what it takes to help them back. At the same time there was an intriguing mystery and a good romance. I can’t wait to pick up the next one in the series.

What I’m Reading ~ Backfire ~ Catherine Coulter

This is the 16th book in Coulter’s FBI Thriller series.

FBI Agent Dillon Savich receives a vague but ominous threat, while they’re trying to trace who might be after him, and why, a long time friend, and federal judge, Ramsey Hunt is shot in the back and nearly killed. Savich and his wife, fellow Agent Lacey Sherlock fly to San Francisco to help find whoever is trying to kill Hunt.

What did I think? I liked it, I love this series and usually fly through the books, unfortunately, I’m so busy with other things it took me a week to finish this. Savich and Sherlock are true to character, taking care of each other, their son and their friends while, at the same time, doing their job. This one kept me interested even when I had to put it down over and over.

What I’m Reading ~ Echoes at Dawn ~ Maya Banks

This is the fifth book of the KGI series.

Grace has been running for a long time. She knew better that to get caught but they found her, now something has happened and she’s free again, but weak. She doesn’t have the energy to run anymore, and she won’t be taken back.

Rio knew the moment he saw Grace on the video, and he volunteered to find her for her sister, Shea. Can he find her in time? Can he convince her to trust him? that she’s not like the people who’ve tortured her for so long?

What did I think? I really liked it. The characters were likable and believable. I stayed up until 2am to finish it, I had a very hard time putting it down.

What I’m reading ~ Obsidian ~ Laurann Dohner

This is the eighth book in the New Species series.

880 was comatose when the NSO found him, and in the months since he has healed, but not regained consciousness. The human doctor working for the NSO, Alison, has a theory, something she wants to try to wake him, but everyone she talks to refuses, so she takes matters into her own hands and kidnaps him, taking him to a rented farmhouse for a few days to see if he will get used to her scent and wake.  She knows that she’ll lose her job, and is risking imprisonment, but it’s worth the risk.

When NSO agents find where they are hiding, she knows she’s out of time, but no one is prepared for what happens next.

What did I think? I enjoyed it. I was so drawn in, so intrigued by the story that I stayed up past 2am to finish it, despite knowing I had to get up at 6.
