What I’m Reading ~ Kiss the Dead ~ Laurell K. Hamilton
Posted: June 17, 2012 Filed under: What I'm Reading | Tags: Anita Blake, Laurell Hamilton, series, what I'm reading Leave a commentThis is the twenty-first book in the Anita Blake series.
Anita partners with Zerbrowski when a fifteen year old girl is taken by the vampires, the plan is to make her one of them. Anita soon finds a group of children and elderly vampires willing to do almost anything, including die, to avoid following a master vampire. But can they find them all in time?
What did I think? I’m less than impressed with this one. This is the first Anita Blake book that has ever taken me 10 days for the first reading. I was bored. I think Ms. Hamilton has likely been writing Anita too long without a break and it shows. I’m glad that she’ll be writing another series before she comes back to Anita (who I admit, I’m quite fond of.) and I hope we’ll see the Anita I’ve come to know and love back.
What I’m Reading ~ Cyborg Seduction series ~ Laurann Dohner
Posted: June 5, 2012 Filed under: What I'm Reading | Tags: Cyborg Seduction series, erotica, Laurann Dohner, what I'm reading Leave a commentKissing Steel, Melting Iron, Touching Ice and Stealing Coal. In the last three days, have read all of these. This is a Sci/fi erotica series, set in space on a series of shuttles and ships, and occasionally on another planet. They follow the stories of four cyborgs, a people created by men, then determined to be too smart for the purpose they were created for so they were sentenced to death, only they escaped into space before the sentence could be carried out. They each encounter their own human woman and become involved with her.
Each story has it’s own twists and turns as each couple deals with their own issues.
What do I think? Obviously, since I keep reading them, I enjoy them. They aren’t the most involving or wittiest thing I’ve read but I like them.
What I’m Reading ~ Beauty ~ Laurell K. Hamilton
Posted: May 8, 2012 Filed under: What I'm Reading | Tags: Anita Blake, Beauty, Kiss the Dead, Laurell Hamilton, what I'm reading Leave a commentBeauty is a short excerpt from the Antia Blake series.
Anita walks in after a night of work, not work and finds Jean-Claude in the tub, waiting for her. Much sexiness ensues.
What did I think? I liked it, for what it was.
What was it? Well, it took me 20 minutes to read the entire thing. It was short, but Laurell said all along it was a sexy outtake from her next book Kiss the Dead.
What I’m Reading ~ Beneath the Skin ~ Lauren Dane
Posted: May 2, 2012 Filed under: What I'm Reading | Tags: Beneath the Skin, de La Vega Cats, Lauren Dane, what I'm reading Leave a commentThis is the third book in the de La Vega Cats series.
Gibson is the Bringer of the de La Vega jamboree. He is the law and judge that holds them together. But when he is attacked on the street and hit with three silver bullets he is forced to rely on the woman who saves his life, if only for a short while.
Mia has some issues, she’s recovering from an attack that may well effect her for the rest of her life. But when another Jaguar is shot in front of her she can’t help but do the right thing. She takes him home and digs out the silver. But she couldn’t know how this stranger would change her life.
What did I think? I enjoyed it. I had a hard time putting it down. The characters were dynamic and likable. I cheered when they got things right and wanted to cry when they were hurting.
What I’m Reading~ Colters’ Daughter ~ Maya Banks
Posted: May 1, 2012 Filed under: What I'm Reading | Tags: Colters' Daughter, Colters' Legacy, erotica, Maya Banks, what I'm reading 1 CommentColters’ Daughter is the third book in the Colters’ Legacy series.
Callie is the only child of Adam, Ethan, Ryan and Holly of Colter’s Woman and Colters’ Wife.
She’s followed her restless soul all over the world but always ends up back home. When Max, a ghost from her past, shows up in her brother’s bar where she’s working, she gives him her best right hook, leaving him with no doubt how she feels.
But Max has something to say and he won’t take no for an answer. Can he convince her to at least listen to what he has to say?
What did I think? It was good. Realistic interpersonal relationships and great erotic scenes. I’ve read all the other Colter’s Legacy books and was eager to read this one. I liked Callie, and Max was a decent dominant. What I didn’t like was how easily she fell at his feet forgiving him. If I’ve spent months hurting and being angry at you, I’m not going to change my mind and forgive you in an hour or two. Simply not going to happen.
What I’m reading ~ Insatiable ~ Lauren Dane
Posted: April 29, 2012 Filed under: What I'm Reading | Tags: erotica, Insatiable, Lauren Dane, Phantom Corps, what I'm reading Leave a commentInsatiable is the first book in the Phantom Corps series
Daniel is the lowborn leader of the Phantom Corps, an elite group of soldiers working for the Federation Military.
Carina is the daughter of the leader of the Imperial Verses. Raised as a princess in a house filled with danger and intrigue she learned very young to hide her true self. Now, in order to aid her people, she needs to escape.
When the person sent to help her escape is Daniel, Carina experiences many things she’s never before encountered. But can she handle it all? Can she deal with the changes her life will go through now?
What did I think? I enjoyed it. The story kept me engrossed and Daniel and Carina were people you came to like. They had realistic, multi-dimensional personalities and personal histories that effected how they related to each other. Personally I prefer the Pride series, but this was good too.
What I’ve been reading ~ Devlin Dynasty ~ Jaci Burton
Posted: April 21, 2012 Filed under: What I'm Reading | Tags: Devlin Dynasty, Jaci Burton, what I'm reading Leave a commentRunning Mate, Fall Fury, and Mountain Moonlight.
This series follows the stories of a set of siblings, the Devlins, a family full of alpha werewolves. The family has a plan, one that sends each of the children to different places to find their mates and establish territories of their own. These books follow the stories of three of the four brothers, as they meet the women destined to become their mates. They all struggle with coming to terms with the unexpected location of their mate, at the same time dealing with the same issues in their mates. Added into the mix is the complications of shapeshifting and driving sexual instincts.
What did I think? I enjoyed them. They were intriguing and entertaining. Very fast reads I’ve read all three in the last twenty-four hours. I would read more of her books.
What I’m Reading ~ Tiger ~ Laurann Dohner
Posted: April 13, 2012 Filed under: What I'm Reading | Tags: Laurann Dohner, new species, Tiger, what I'm reading Leave a commentTiger is book seven in the New Species series.
Zandy has a history of bad judgment when it comes to men, and she has sworn off relationships. Tiger has watched the males of his kind change when they found their mates and he has sworn never to take one, especially not a human mate. But when the two of them encounter each other, they learn that fate has other ideas. Can they fight their fate or will they accept it?
What did I think? It was an enjoyable fast, easy read. Great for an evening when I needed a break. I like the series and Tiger was a good addition to it.
What I’m Reading ~ Blue Moon ~ Laurell K. Hamilton
Posted: April 9, 2012 Filed under: What I'm Reading | Tags: Anita Blake, Blue Moon, Laurell Hamilton, what I'm reading Leave a commentThis is the eighth book in the Anita Blake series.
Anita gets a panicked call from Richard’s little brother Daniel, Richard is in jail in Tennessee, accused of rape, and the full moon is only five days away. Anita drops everything and rushes to his aid, despite the local Master of the City not wanting them there. Once she arrives she discovers that there’s more going on than she knew about and there’s far more trouble to deal with than she’d planned for. And not only with the locals.
What did I think? I love Anita, I reread all the books pretty regularly, they’re comfort reading to me. I’ve spent most of the last two weeks down with the flu and I’ve read this one and the one before it in the series. I wanna be Anita when I grow up.
