Stacey Rourke brings us the hilarious Gryphon Series. She lives in Michigan with her husband, two beautiful daughters, and two giant, drooly dogs. She holds a Bachelor’s in Business Administration and is currently hard at work on the continuations of her action-packed series, as well as other literary projects.

My interview with Stacey:

What’s your inspiration? My kids. For them I wanted to create a strong female character that shows them how to dig down deep in times of turmoil and doesn’t need someone to rescue her. I also wanted to set the example for them of finding your passion in life and following it.

Why do you write? I write because I have to. Because it’s who I am. Simple as that.

Would you write more than one series at a time? I can’t. I’ve tried. I just don’t have the attention span for that. I fear I’ll get hit by a bus in the middle and finish either. Seriously. Thoughts like that plague me.

What’s your writing process? Write when inspired? Make time? Daily word goal? Etc. For my first drafts I try to belly up to my computer five days a week and knock out at the very least 1000 words in a sitting. That doesn’t sound like much but with a four and five year old at home even that number can be tricky.

Do you write to music, other noise, or have to have silence? It really depends on my mood, concentration level and what I’m writing. Some scenes I HAVE to have music to help me set the mood, other times my groove thang gets going and takes away my concentration.

If you write to some set noisemaker, list a few, give us an idea of your preferences. Oh, the song selection is a little bit of everything! For Caleb’s scenes I listen to The Bollox, Flogging Molly, music along those lines. For scenes with Rowan I tend to listen to Jace Everett’s Bad Things. But really everything from Jimmy Buffett, to Black Betty has prompted moments of inspiration.

Of all your books, which is your favorite? Right now, probably Embrace.

Thanks so much for answering my questions, Stacey.

Whether she likes it or not, eighteen year old Celeste Garrett has come to terms with being the Chosen One. She knew having a “normal life” would be tricky, between intense training sessions and epic demonic battles, but she didn’t know at what cost it would come. That is, until a dear friend is harmed by the malicious forces hunting her.

Now, she’d like nothing more than to retreat into a hermit lifestyle to prevent anyone else from getting hurt. But startling revelations, amazing new abilities, and mortifying moments in front of insanely hot guys won’t allow time for that. Soon, Celeste finds herself surrounded by darkness and wondering who she can trust—if anyone.

EMBRACE can be found on Amazon.
