What I’m reading ~ Destiny Awaits ~ Jaidis Shaw

This is the first book in the Juniper Grover Chronicles.

13817619

After Alayna Scott is the only survivor of the horrific car accident that takes her parents lives, she’s determined to start over some place new. She buys a house and moves to Juniper Grove, only to discover that there’s more to the little town than she could have imagined. After an attack changes her forever, she’s forced to deal with the fact that not only do shifters exist, but so do vampires.

What did I think? I enjoyed it. I read the book in just a few hours, it was an intriguing story and it made me feel good to be supporting another Indie Author. I definitely recommend and may even give it to my 12 year old to read.

Movie Review ~ The Eagle

Adventure / Drama, released in 2011, Starring Channing Tatum, Jamie Bell, Donald Sutherland

A Roman soldier endeavors to regain the family honor by recovering the eagle that his father’s legion carried when they were lost in northern Briton.

What did I think? It was good. I started out watching because I was craving some eye candy, it has Channing Tatum, and it happened to be laying on my desk (thank you Netflix!) But as it played I lost track of what I was trying to do and spent more time with my eyes on the screen. I was surprised by the ending, but it was a pleasant surprise. I recommend it.

Edits and Change paperback.

I’ve finished the edits to Change. Yes, I’ve done them more than once, but I’ve found there were still a lot of issues in it, so I had it redone. The ebooks will be updated in the next few days, and I’m working on a paperback edition of the same book!!

I’ve got it mostly done, but these things take time. I will however reveal the cover for the paperback edition of Change, when my Facebook Page reaches 50 likes! Get to sharing and we’ll soon see the cover!

As for Fight, I’m still working on those edits, however I’m hoping to be able to set things up so that the ebook edition and the paperback edition come out at the same time! The cover to that one’s not done yet, so we’ll have to have another reveal when it is!

Camp NaNoWriMo, Day 26.

Well, my train has officially been de-railed. A day of cleaning and packing, 2 days of travel and a day of recovery and I’m around 8,000 words behind. Could I work hard and catch up? Yes, I could do it. However, in today’s mail I received the copy-edits of Fight, and another for Change. Instead of working to catch up on my Camp NaNo project I’m going to work on getting my edits done.

Getting all the edits done will mean two things. Number one, I can publish Fight, get it out there for those I know are eager to see it. Number two is that I am hoping to get the paper editions ready to go to print. We all want paper copies, right?

So off I go, not to write but to input edits. But in the end it’s still progress. Psst.. How long will it take to do the edits on 2 books?

Camp Nano, Day 20

I got a very late start tonight, and I had some difficulty in the beginning, but things are moving better now. I’ve managed to make the month to date goal but I’m pretty sure the day is going to roll over before I hit any other goals. That’s okay. I’m still happy with where I stand. Plus.. Sometimes seeing old friends and family is worth the delay.

Camp Nano, Day 19

Today was a great day. I knew where I was going this morning when I sat down and I managed 1500 words before I had to leave for an appointment. This evening I came back and managed another thousand words. I’m not just on schedule I’m a little bit ahead. I’m hoping it continues. Days like this are so much easier than the ones where you struggle for every word.

Camp Nano, Day 18

I managed less than a thousand words today. Some days are just like that. On the upside, thanks to the extra I got done last night, I’m still on target for the month. I’m going to call it a night, and go lay down with my notebook, see if I can work out where things will go tomorrow.

Oh.. If anyone knows where I can buy a downloadable (not streaming) digital copy of the movie Armageddon (the one with Bruce Willis) I’d love to know. I really want to put it on my Fire for sound blocking while I work.

Camp Nano Days 16 and 17

Some days are easier than others. Last night I barely made the month to date goal and I was falling asleep at the keyboard. In an effort to avoid a Twilight, I gave in and went to bed.

Today things have gone better. I’ve gotten the daily goal, and my personal goal, and I’m still going strong. I’ll probably work as long as things continue to flow. If I can figure out where things are going from here I should be able to write for several days. Fingers Crossed.

What I’m Reading ~ Kiss the Dead ~ Laurell K. Hamilton

This is the twenty-first book in the Anita Blake series.

Anita partners with Zerbrowski when a fifteen year old girl is taken by the vampires, the plan is to make her one of them. Anita soon finds a group of children and elderly vampires willing to do almost anything, including die, to avoid following a master vampire. But can they find them all in time?

What did I think? I’m less than impressed with this one. This is the first Anita Blake book that has ever taken me 10 days for the first reading.  I was bored. I think Ms. Hamilton has likely been writing Anita too long without a break and it shows. I’m glad that she’ll be writing another series before she comes back to Anita (who I admit, I’m quite fond of.) and I hope we’ll see the Anita I’ve come to know and love back.

Camp Nano, Day 15

Doing good, I seem to be back in the flow. Managed just over 2200 words today, and that included four hours away at a birthday party! I’ve got some good things going and I can’t wait to get back to it in the morning!
